Wuthering Waves lands on Xbox Series X|S on July 10

Wuthering Waves is finally washing up on Xbox, and it picked one busy Thursday to do it. Kuro Games' free-to-play open-world RPG hits Xbox Series X and Series S on July 10, and it is not sneaking in through the back door. This is a full Play Anywhere launch, so you get the console version, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming all at once, with cross-progression tying it back to your existing PC or mobile account.

The timing is not random. The Xbox debut lands right on top of Version 3.5, the game's next big content drop, so newcomers and veterans start on the same page for once. No waiting weeks for the console build to catch up to everyone else.

What Version 3.5 brings

The headline is Mengzhou, a new region in Huanglong shaped around old melodies, gathering storms and, naturally, a fresh pile of lore to chew through. On the roster side you get two new Resonators, Yangyang in her Xuanling form and newcomer Suisui, plus Rover: Electro, a new element for the character you have been building since day one. Been sitting on saved-up currency? This is the patch to spend it.

Game Pass gets a little bonus

Wuthering Waves is free-to-play, so you do not need a subscription to jump in. That said, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members get an exclusive launch Sigil (an in-game item) just for signing in, which is a nice freebie if you already pay for the service. Cloud streaming through Ultimate also means you can try it on basically anything with a screen before you hand over any storage space.

Never touched it? The short version: fast, flashy combat built around swapping between characters mid-fight, a genuinely fun traversal system with wall-running, grappling and even an upgradeable motorbike, and the kind of open world HoYo fans keep comparing to a certain other gacha. It is one of the better-looking free games on the platform now, full stop.
