About Age of the Fallen

Age of the Fallen - about the game

Age of the Fallen is a bullet heaven action roguelite set in a dark medieval fantasy world where players battle endless demon hordes. The game combines fast-paced shooting mechanics with deck-building elements and permanent progression across runs. Available on PC, it supports single-player campaigns and shared-screen local co-op for two players.

Gameplay

Core gameplay revolves around surviving waves of enemies in randomized runs that grow more intense over time. Players select from 10 unique heroes, each equipped with distinct starting weapons and abilities that shape different strategies. Runs reward permanent unlocks such as new cards and upgrades, allowing builds to strengthen across multiple attempts.

Over 500 collectible cards form the foundation of customization. Players open packs and complete challenges to expand their collection, then assemble decks before each run. Cards alter attack patterns, add effects, or provide defensive options that redefine how a hero performs. More than 20 attacks and items can be unlocked and evolved into powerful forms capable of clearing large enemy groups.

Over 128 million offensive combinations arise from mixing heroes, cards, attacks, and items. This system encourages experimentation with different loadouts to handle varied enemy types and boss encounters. Permanent progression ensures that successful runs contribute to long-term advancement rather than resetting entirely each time.

Game Modes

Single-player mode focuses on individual progression through story-driven scenarios. Players navigate eight challenging environments, including cursed castles, frozen mountains, forgotten fortresses, celestial kingdoms, and the depths of Hell. Each area features unique enemies, bosses, and hazards that test different build approaches.

Local co-op supports two players on the same screen. Participants select heroes, combine attacks and cards, and access exclusive co-op characters and mechanics. The mode includes story progression where both players advance together while competing to defeat the most enemies. Over 210 million possible combinations expand the variety available in shared sessions.

Both modes emphasize roguelite structure with randomized rewards and deck-building choices that prevent identical runs. Achievements track mastery across objectives, unlocking additional content upon completion.

Progression and Replayability

Every completed run grants new cards, unlocks, and upgrades that carry forward. This system builds toward stronger starting positions in future attempts and supports deeper exploration of the 80-plus achievements. Boss battles introduce specific mechanics that demand adaptive strategies beyond standard enemy waves.

Endless replayability stems from the combination of hero selection, card decks, attack evolutions, and scenario variety. No two runs repeat exactly due to these layered randomization elements, encouraging repeated sessions to refine playstyles or pursue different objectives.

Is It Worth Playing?

Age of the Fallen targets players who enjoy bullet heaven action combined with roguelite progression and light deck-building. The local co-op option adds a competitive yet cooperative layer suitable for couch sessions with a friend. With a planned release in August 2026 and no reviews available yet, the game remains in pre-release state. Those drawn to fast-paced horde survival, hero variety, and build experimentation may find the described systems appealing once it launches. The emphasis on permanent unlocks and high combination counts supports repeated play without requiring online connectivity.
