About ClusterForce

ClusterForce - about the game

ClusterForce is a fast arcade 3D flying sports game that blends action, indie, and racing elements in a competitive multiplayer experience on PC. Players pilot electromagnetic gliders to collect, steal, and deliver energy balls across dynamic arenas while using specialized weapons to disrupt opponents. As a spiritual successor to the 2000 title Clusterball, it revives the core loop of chaining balls for higher scores while managing the trade-offs of speed and vulnerability.

Gameplay

The central loop revolves around gathering energy balls from magnetic ramps scattered throughout each venue. These balls form a visible chain behind the glider, increasing point value with every addition. However, longer chains reduce speed, make the player easier to target, and heighten the risk of losing everything to an opponent. Delivery to the goal zone converts the chain into scored points, but only balls that arrive count. Pilots must weigh the benefits of another lap against the immediate risk of delivery, as rivals actively hunt carriers.

Eight gliders divided into four classes offer distinct handling profiles suited to different approaches. Weapons appear across the maps and include options such as Smoke Puffs for breaking apart ball chains or obstacles, Ballsnatcher probes that steal chains, Backdraft probes that reverse a target's momentum, Inflator effects that turn balls into oversized balloons, Shockwave bombs that disable electronics in an area, Gravitator gel that increases gravity on impact, and Tractor Beam cannons. These tools enable direct interference with deliveries or defensive plays. Venues feature varied environments like Ocean Arena, Foundry, Whiteout, Cromlech, Sphinx, Illusion Grid, and Sky Arena, with layouts, obstacles, and ball resting spots shifting per match to keep rounds fresh. Matches support up to eight players on dedicated servers or local networks, emphasizing fast flying and real-time decisions.

Game Modes

Catch em all serves as the primary mode in the current build. Players focus on collecting balls, stealing chains from others, and scoring deliveries in free-for-all or class-based setups. Team variants of Catch em all remain in development, where different glider classes would support coordinated tactics. Ballfight, another planned mode, shifts the focus so that balls function as lives in a more direct combat-oriented format. The core experience stays centered on the collect-steal-score cycle, with weapons adding layers of disruption without altering the fundamental delivery objective.

Venues and Progression

Each venue presents recognizable landmarks alongside procedural changes that alter optimal routes and ball positions every match. This design encourages repeated play as familiarity with one layout does not guarantee success in the next. Glider selection and weapon use add strategic depth, rewarding players who adapt to the shifting conditions rather than relying on a single approach. The absence of pay-to-win elements ensures all participants start with equal access to the full roster of gliders and weapons.

Is It Worth Playing?

ClusterForce targets players who enjoy skill-based multiplayer competition in a flying sports format. The core mechanics of chain management, weapon timing, and delivery risk create tense matches that reward quick thinking and precise control. With the game entering Early Access in Q4 2026, the current build already includes a complete single-mode experience with seven venues, ten weapons, and eight gliders. Planned additions such as team modes, Ballfight, ranked seasons, and further venues will expand options over time. Those drawn to competitive, non-cosmetic progression in an indie action-racing hybrid will find the fair design and dedicated server support appealing. The solo-developed project emphasizes community feedback for balance and features, making it suitable for enthusiasts willing to engage during the iterative phase.
