About Eichmark

Eichmark - about the game

Eichmark is a single-player dark medieval strategy RPG set in a war-torn land of castles, bandits and shifting alliances. Players take on the role of a survivor whose village has been destroyed, navigating a story of revenge and power struggles against a gathering horde led by the warchief Grash. The game blends real-time regiment combat, dialogue choices that carry lasting consequences and the management of captured territory into one cohesive experience on PC.

Gameplay

Core gameplay centers on leading regiments in real-time battles where units move and fight in coordinated blocks. Players can pause at any moment to issue orders for flanks, charges or defensive stands, allowing tactical adjustments without halting the flow entirely. Siege sequences involve constructing equipment such as rams and catapults, positioning ladders and breaching gates to reach an inner keep and its defending lord. Captured castles become permanent holdings that players can develop further.

Outside of combat, conversations drive much of the narrative. Every dialogue is fully voiced in German with subtitles, and characters remember past actions, argue against decisions and react based on prior events. This system extends to judging prisoners, negotiating with noble houses and dealing with bandit groups. At night, surviving regiments gather around a fire where each unit shares reflections on the day's losses. Fallen soldiers receive graves, and their stories continue through replacements who speak for their people.

Territory management adds another layer. Freeing villages allows players to claim fields, mills, breweries and other structures, then connect them with roads to form a growing network of holdings. These settlements provide resources and support for the army while the land itself remains contested by three noble houses pursuing their own agendas.

Game Modes

The game follows a linear main story structured as a prologue followed by four chapters set in one region. This campaign leads into an open-world phase where players can continue exploring and expanding after the primary narrative concludes. All progression occurs in single-player, with no separate multiplayer or competitive modes available.

Within the campaign, players move on foot with their column across the map, engaging in regiment battles and sieges as the story advances. The open-world section emphasizes free-form play, including side activities such as tavern visits for dice, card games and tournaments. These elements tie directly into the broader loop of combat, dialogue and settlement building rather than functioning as isolated modes.

Story and World

The narrative begins with the burning of Eichenfurt and expands across the Graufels region, where Grash assembles his forces. Players encounter bandit gangs, three distinct noble houses with independent political goals and a landscape marked by collapse and conflict. Choices in dialogue and action shape relationships and outcomes, with persistent effects on how characters and factions respond later.

The world emphasizes consequence and memory. Villages and castles change ownership based on player decisions, and the camp system gives regiments individual voices that reflect ongoing losses. This creates a sense of a living army whose composition and morale evolve through the campaign and into the open world.

Current State and Development

Eichmark remains in development with a planned Early Access release in 2027. The Early Access version will include the full main story of prologue and four chapters plus the open-world continuation. It features real-time regiment battles, sieges, voiced German dialogue, village development, noble house politics and tavern activities. An English version with voices is planned for later, along with additional side stories and balance adjustments based on player input. The developer intends to gather feedback through Steam discussions and playtests during this period.

Is It Worth Playing?

Eichmark targets players who enjoy single-player strategy RPGs that combine tactical real-time combat with narrative depth and territory management. Those drawn to sieges, regiment-based battles and dialogue systems that track long-term consequences will find the core loop engaging. The game offers no multiplayer components, focusing entirely on a personal campaign that transitions into open-world play. Since it has not yet released, there are no player reviews or ratings available to assess reception. Potential buyers should consider their interest in medieval strategy experiences with persistent story consequences and settlement building when deciding whether to follow its development toward the 2027 Early Access launch.
