About FatInfantry

FatInfantry - about the game

FatInfantry is a single-player 2D action platformer that blends gunplay, melee combat, and precise platforming in a setting where vegetables have taken over the kitchen. An overweight infantryman with a massive appetite leads the charge to rescue kidnapped chefs who have been forced to prepare vegetable dishes. The game emphasizes weight gain as a core progression system, letting players grow from 100 kilograms to 130 kilograms while customizing a personal combat approach through limited skill points.

Gameplay

Combat centers on flexible aiming across a full 360 degrees, allowing shots in any direction while moving. Players can roll to dodge incoming attacks and use a frying pan for defense. Belly strikes deliver heavy close-range damage, and a gas attack provides crowd control when surrounded. Progression unlocks a fork pull ability that reels in enemies, followed by a shift to chained fork melee combat for a more aggressive style.

Eating scattered food items drives character growth and power. Each kilogram gained opens access to 30 skill points that players allocate across upgrades such as stronger belly strikes, faster heavy-shot charging, better defense, and additional combat options. Points remain limited, so choices shape distinct fighting styles rather than allowing broad mastery of every ability.

Platforming and traversal add variety to the action. Levels feature collapsing platforms, freezing cellars that require careful movement, poisonous greenhouses, occupied towns, castle kitchens, and vast production lines. Players swing across gaps with a chain, ride trays to outrun hazards like foam, and navigate environmental threats alongside enemy encounters.

Game Modes

FatInfantry operates entirely as a single-player experience with no multiplayer options. The campaign follows a linear rescue mission structured around distinct stages that mix combat arenas, platforming sequences, and boss fights. Vegetable soldiers and mutants serve as regular enemies, while larger bosses guard key sections of the kidnapped chefs' trail.

Progression ties directly to exploration and combat success within these stages. Freeing captives advances the story and unlocks new areas, with each environment presenting unique hazards that test both combat timing and movement precision. The absence of separate modes keeps focus on the core loop of eating, upgrading, and advancing through the war-torn food world.

Progression and Customization

Skill allocation encourages repeated playthroughs or careful planning on a first run. With only 30 points available, players must prioritize between offensive power, defensive tools, or mobility upgrades. Weight gain itself functions as both a visual and mechanical reward, altering hitboxes and strike strength as the infantryman grows.

Environmental variety supports this system by rewarding thorough exploration for food items. Each stage offers opportunities to collect resources that fuel further growth, turning every level into a mix of combat encounters and deliberate pathfinding.

Is It Worth Playing?

FatInfantry targets players who enjoy 2D action platformers with unconventional progression mechanics. The combination of ranged shooting, melee shifts, and weight-based upgrades creates a distinct combat feel that rewards experimentation within the limits of the skill system. Environmental challenges and boss encounters add tension beyond standard enemy waves.

Because the game remains in development with a coming-soon release date, current reception consists of wishlist interest rather than completed reviews. Those drawn to single-player campaigns featuring gunplay mixed with platforming and light RPG-style choices may find the premise appealing once it launches. The focused scope on one character and one rescue mission keeps the experience self-contained without extraneous features.
