About Knight Case Files

Knight Case Files - about the game

In the Phoenix Kingdom, there is a man known as the Corpse Killer.

A duke attempted to usurp the country using an imposter of his daughter. A necromancer who once warred with the Phoenix Clan lurks in the shadows.

Wilhelm, a new Knight of the Royal Guard, becomes entwined with investigations into the forces working to oppose king and country. He is assigned to the personal guard of Master Alchemist Topherf, a descendant of the Serpent Clan.

Together, they must understand the history of the Phoenix Kingdom, two immortal races, and the body of a young lady kept suspended at the moment of her death.

A deep connection awaits them as they continue on their journey...

  • Elaborate worldbuilding and a profound story

  • An ornate and beautiful retro art style

  • A professional scenario writer and an illustrator teaming up to create a unique indie game, packed with ideas that that could not be achieved in the mainstream.

Wilhelm (the protagonist)

A newcomer to the Royal Guard. Wilhelm is a prodigy in combat and can use a wide variety of weapons. To assist his father, a weaponsmith, he tests prototype designs. Though bearing strong intentions, he dislikes trouble and will go along with others. As a fresh recruit to the Royal Guard, he is still seeking his own goal in life.

Secret: He is the rumoured Corpse Killer, committing the taboo of desecrating corpses. He dearly hopes Topherf will not dislike him for this.

Topherf

A true alchemical genius. Her body is an alchemical creation that she transferred her soul into, so she has great longevity. She loves fashion and changes her appearance and gender according to her mood that day. As a person who deals with souls, she judges others by the character and personality of their souls. She is cheerful, friendly, and popular.

Secret: She is afraid of being despised by others, so she hides her natural appearance. She owes a great debt to Wilhelm.

Schatten

A human with Phoenix ancestry, he has been reborn as a Phoenix. He has a preference for blonds, regardless of gender. He is descended from the Black Phoenix of Foresight and has the ability to see the future through dreams and visions.

The Phoenix Kingdom

The Phoenix Clan once defeated the Serpent Clan in war, then founded a kingdom. Humans and the Phoenix Clan were both present during the foundation, and so descent from the Phoenix Clan is considered a sign of true citizenship. The most famous line of descent is that of the Ebony Phoenix, which is the foundation of the Weiss royal family. As the Phoenix Clan is said to prefer free movement and does not value ties to land, it is said that clan that founded the Phoenix Kingdom left soon after the foundation.

It has been officially announced that there are no members of the Phoenix Clan currently in the kingdom.

Corpse Killer

A rumored figure based on an old urban legend in the Phoenix Kingdom. It is said to have originated in the West Branch of the Royal Guard, which is equipped with a large morgue. There, weapons can be tested on corpses with the permission of the government. The story began with the appearance of a mercenary called the Corpse Killer.

Prohibition against necromancy

Necromancy here referring to all magic used to move or otherwise manipulate a corpse.

In our country, we regard it as an immoral act that offends the dignity of the dead and prohibit its use, with few exceptions.

Actions recognized as exceptions:

1) Research used to oppose necromantic magic

2) Research of the use of magical practices using the theories of necromancy.

Exceptions require submission of data to the Royal Institute of Magical Studies and the approval of the Kingdom Assembly and the King."
