About Kur - Endless Descent

Kur - Endless Descent - about the game

Kur - Endless Descent is a free-to-play idle RPG set in the underworld of Mesopotamian myth. Players build a party of three heroes and send them into an endless descent through forgotten cities and fractured realms while the game runs quietly in a corner of the screen.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on idle party combat. Once a party descends, the heroes explore and fight automatically. Decisions focus on party composition, equipment choices, skill development, and how far to push the current run. The window can be resized at any time, switched between a full dungeon view and a minimalist party display, or reduced to a small progress indicator that tracks depth while other tasks continue on the desktop.

Heroes belong to four distinct classes, and no party can repeat a class. The Oathkeeper focuses on holding the line, the Ashblade engages in close combat, the Hunter attacks from range, and the Seer influences the fight through magic. Each class has its own passive skill tree that grows with use. An account-wide Seal records progress across runs and never resets, granting permanent engravings that improve future descents.

Loot consists of hundreds of named items across nine rarities. Gear that wears out can be melted into Kug for refinement. Ash drops from defeated creatures and becomes more valuable at greater depths. Enough Ash can produce a numbered Artifact, a permanent item limited in total quantity. These Artifacts serve as the rarest crafting material and can be traded with other players through the Steam Inventory once that feature launches.

Game Modes

The primary experience is the endless descent through seven distinct Domains, each governed by its own rules and guarded by a Gate. Ashen Vestibules form the uppermost layer. Ningiszida Rootways feature growth without sunlight. The Salt Cisterns preserve death rather than burning it away. The Lapis Vaults record events as well as kill. The Dust Courts stretch in vast, silent halls. The Seventh Threshold marks where the realm stops pretending to be a simple place. Kutha's Ember Works lies at the end, a workshop of inflicted death.

Breaking the final Gate triggers the Mark, which claims the player and restarts the descent at greater depth. New Domains open beneath the Mark, monsters return in more corrupted forms, and every item carries a numbered Sigil with improved stats. Each completed descent also adds new engravings to the Seal. The process repeats without a fixed bottom.

World and Creatures

The setting draws directly from Mesopotamian sources. More than eighty creatures appear, including the Gidim, the Galla, Namtar, Asag, and the Seven Judges, all bound to the order of Ereškigal. Named items and environmental details reinforce the theme of buried cities, sealed kings, and fractured gods that still breathe beneath the known world.

Is It Worth Playing?

Kur - Endless Descent suits players who want a persistent idle RPG that fits around a workday rather than demanding full attention. The free-to-play model includes no purchases that increase power, new classes arrive only as optional DLC without stat advantages, and no death penalties or daily requirements exist. Player trading of equipment and Artifacts rewards patience and luck rather than spending. The combination of myth-inspired creatures, deep item variety, and an account-wide progression system that never resets gives the game long-term structure for those who enjoy building teams and pushing incremental depth over repeated short sessions.
