Norland War Chronicles is a turn-based tactical RPG set in a medieval fantasy world. Take on the role of Kane, a Royal Guard, leading a diverse team of knights, mages, assassins, and more through an epic journey to protect the kingdom from the encroaching darkness.
Story
The kingdom of Norland stands on the brink of war. Dark forces gather at the borders, ancient evils stir beneath the ruins, and political conspiracies threaten to tear the realm apart from within. As Kane, a loyal Royal Guard, you must rally companions from all walks of lifeāfrom noble knights to outcast mages, from seasoned mercenaries to mysterious druidsāand lead them across frozen northern wastes, scorching deserts, and forgotten ruins to uncover the truth behind the darkness and save your homeland.
Turn-Based Tactical Combat
Battles unfold through a dual system: grid-based battlefield movement combined with automatic combat encounters. On the battlefield map, you maneuver your party across a grid, deploy formations, and approach or evade enemies. When contact is made, the scene shifts to automatic combat where both sides' characters fight according to their equipped skill strategies. Key combat elements include:
Class System: 40 unique classes with distinct rolesātanks absorb damage, mages unleash devastating spells, archers strike from afar, and support classes heal and buff allies. Master class counters to exploit enemy weaknesses.
Terrain & Positioning: Terrain primarily affects movement range. Town terrain increases defense and HP recovery; stronghold terrain increases defense. Making good use of terrain to move to advantageous positions is key to tactical success.
Action Points (AP) & Power Points (PP): In automatic combat, active skills consume AP and passive skills consume PP. Each character can only use one active skill per turn. When both sides' AP are fully depleted, the battle ends. Strategically balancing active and passive skills and arranging skill priority is the core of pre-battle strategy.
Active & Passive Skills: Each character equips 4 active skills (consuming AP) and 4 passive skills (triggering automatically under conditions). With 269 skills total, experiment with countless combinations.
Status Effects: Inflict burning, freezing, poison, stun, and more on enemies. Conversely, protect your team with buffs like defense boosts, HP regeneration, and evasion bonuses.
Character Collection & Growth
70+ Recruitable Characters: Every companion has a unique backstory, personality, and exclusive skill set. Some join through story progression, others require completing side quests or meeting specific conditions.
Level-Up System: Characters gain experience from battles, increasing stats (HP, attack, defense, speed, etc.). Reach certain levels to unlock advanced classes.
Class Advancement: Most classes are divided into two stages: basic and advanced. When characters meet the requirements, they can advance to a higher-tier class, learning new skills, increasing AP and PP limits, and unlocking more equipment slots for a significant boost in combat power.
Equipment & Skills: Equipment upgrades only improve base stats (such as attack power, defense, etc.). Some equipment comes with built-in active or passive skillsācharacters automatically gain these skills when equipped, adding more strategic options to combat.
Equipment System
Hundreds of Pieces of Equipment: Discover weapons (swords, spears, bows, staves), shields, and accessories throughout your journey. Equipment changes character appearance and provides stat bonuses.
Equipment-Bearing Skills: Some rare weapons and accessories grant unique active or passive skills. When equipped, the character gains access to those skills, expanding their tactical options.
Upgrade & Bonuses: Equipment upgrades improve basic stats (attack, defense, etc.). Equipment may also provide elemental resistances or status immunities.
