About OMUSUBI

OMUSUBI - about the game
High school girl Hinako embarks on a checkered adventure between this world and the next after her familiar riverbed morphs into the Sanzu River. She teams up with peculiar-looking Issa to navigate eerie spots like a mysterious mansion filled with bizarre creatures. This Japanese-style horror adventure unfolds through beautiful pixel art capturing ukiyoe landscapes and Kabuki illusions, rooted in old customs and folklore such as Oiran Yashiki and Kitsune no Yomeiri. Players follow divergent routes in a multi-ending RPG story spanning centuries of human-god connections in a small Japanese town, pondering life's irreplaceability and bonds with others. Playtime runs 3-4 hours for a full completion or 6-8 hours to unlock all endings, with still illustrations and 2D animations enhancing the underworld journey. Indie horror fans who savor atmospheric pixel art tales and folklore-driven narratives will find a fitting challenge.

This multi-ending Japanese-style horror adventure was the only game awarded the Grand Prize in the Newcomer's Award sponsored by "Game Magazine", which has published masterpieces by individual creators such as “Tsugunohi,” “Angels of Death,” and “Noel the Mortal Fate“.

This horror game allows players to enjoy a checkered adventure between this world and the next while immersing themselves in the mysterious world of the underworld through beautiful pixel art expression that makes the most of Japanese charm.

◆Assumed play time
To complete the game: about 3 to 4 hours
To collect all ED branches: about 6 to 8 hours

1)Visual beauty of “Wa”

You can play games amidst beautiful Japanese visuals inspired by Kawase Hasui's new prints and other works.
Enjoy the beautiful ukiyoe-like landscapes and bold Kabuki-like illusions of the uniquely Japanese world of “death”.

2)Japanese-style horror scare experience

You will experience a horror story with a production style that incorporates old Japanese customs and folklore, such as the Oiran Yashiki and the Kitsune no Yomeiri.
Please join the main character, high school girl Hinako, and experience the horror of a world “between life and death” that is unique to Japan.

3)A multi-ED story about “death"

Facing the “death” of a relative, the artist impulsively started to create this work.
The story of the “irreplaceability” of life and the “connection with others” can be experienced by following several divergent routes through the centuries-long story of “love” between human beings and God in a small town in Japan.
Still illustrations and 2D animations drawn by the author himself are also found throughout the book.

A memory from the distant, distant past--
Hinako was crying in the forest,
A mysterious floating being gave her an "OMUSUBI" and .......

Time passed, and Hinako was living a peaceful life as a high school student.
However, her path to school suddenly turns into an eerie place,
The familiar riverbed has been transformed into the Sanzu River!

The river that Hinako is heading to is a hell, a place between this world and the next.
She encounters a crowd of bizarre creatures.
The girl's eyes are filled with the mysterious happenings of the heavenly world.
The girl and Issa, a man with a peculiar appearance, go through the mysterious devices of the mysterious mansion,
Will the girl be able to return safely to the “world” where her family awaits her?

The Japanese-style horror game, which won the only Grand Prize in the Newcomer's Award sponsored by "Game Magazine", is finally available on Steam.
