About Vectorfall

Vectorfall - about the game

Vectorfall is an action game set in hostile space where players pilot armed ships through dangerous sectors to recover cargo and resources. The core experience revolves around extraction runs that test decision making under pressure, with permanent progression tied to successful returns and module management. On PC in Early Access, the title emphasizes single player runs supported by an optional asynchronous network for rival encounters drawn from other players' records.

Gameplay

The central loop begins with a ship selection from a fleet of six distinct frames, each equipped with unique movement and combat tools. A scanner reveals unknown signals that lead into mission pockets filled with enemies, gear, and objectives. Players scan contacts, clear threats, strip resources, and locate the Command Node before heading toward an extraction gate. Alert levels climb with activity, spawning tougher patrols that complicate the return trip.

Death results in partial loss of the haul, while successful extraction feeds modules, materials, booster packs, Signal Tokens, and credits into lasting upgrades. Hot Swap allows mid run ship changes without resetting hull, shields, energy, or cooldowns, preserving state across frames for tactical flexibility. Permanent modules modify weapons, movement, defenses, and resources, with affixes, tags, and circuits enabling chained effects. Each ship features its own Ability Matrix that accepts points to alter core abilities and create handoff triggers between frames. Cards introduce run specific modifiers that carry over during swaps, such as converting projectile hits into area effects.

Back at base, players lock valuable hardware, salvage the rest, reroll affixes, or process spares through the Forge. Four sectors present varied enemy types, hazards, merchants, and commander encounters, with stabilised versions unlocking E1 through E10 difficulty tiers that add rules and increase rewards.

Game Modes

The primary mode centers on the extraction loop across the four sectors. Runs involve scanning, clearing pockets, completing side tasks such as holding ground, cracking data sites, escorting ships, raiding vaults, recovering black boxes, salvaging wrecks, stabilizing reactors, or defending beacons. Rising Alert forces players to manage escalating patrols and potential ambushes or forced breakouts at extraction points.

The optional Rival Network generates asynchronous encounters based on Steam records of other pilots and their builds. Players can hunt hostile echoes, compare threat records, and pursue vendettas without live multiplayer interaction. The main game functions fully offline. Daily and weekly contracts provide additional structure within the extraction framework, while stabilised sectors expand the mode with higher difficulty layers and improved payouts.

Ships and Builds

Six ships define combat variety. The Pulse Interceptor relies on Vector Shift for rapid repositioning. The Sentinel deploys a directional barrier suited to holding positions. The Ghost phases through threats for surprise re entries. The Valkyrie Railwing pauses time to align and release grouped shots. The Corsair Scatterback converts speed and contact into offensive tools. The Oracle Droneframe directs an armed drone network supported by a Mosquito Screen.

Builds evolve through the Ability Matrix and module system. Points reshape core abilities and open branches that interact across the fleet. Affixes and circuits link effects, allowing custom chains that alter how hits register or propagate. Cards further customize individual runs while carrying modifiers between ship swaps.

Is It Worth Playing?

Vectorfall suits players who enjoy extraction focused action with layered ship management and build crafting. The Early Access version delivers the complete extraction loop, all six ships, permanent progression, contracts, four sectors, and the Rival Network option. Balance adjustments, mission variety, and late game systems continue to evolve during development, with some visual elements still receiving updates. Keyboard and mouse or gamepad controls are supported alongside remappable inputs and text scaling options. Those drawn to tense runs, modular customization, and offline friendly progression will find the current state functional for repeated play sessions.
