About World of Mist

World of Mist - about the game

World of Mist is a casual survival city-builder for PC that uses a card-based system to construct and maintain a settlement under constant threat from surrounding darkness. A central lighthouse provides the only reliable light, and every structure must be placed within its reach or risk being swallowed by the mist. Players drag cards to position workshops, farms, and forges while balancing three interdependent resource chains that determine whether the settlement can endure each night.

Gameplay

The core loop revolves around card drag-and-drop placement to expand the settlement during daylight hours. Each card represents a building type that consumes or produces resources, and the three chains link together so that shortages in one area quickly affect the others. Space inside the light is limited, forcing careful decisions about layout and priorities. As dusk approaches, food supplies dwindle and fuel reserves drop, requiring players to have produced enough during the day to cover the night's demands. Failure to meet these requirements weakens defenses and can break the protective line around the lighthouse.

Equipment plays a direct role in survival. The game includes 23 distinct pieces that support both life jobs focused on production and maintenance and combat jobs that prepare for threats. These pieces integrate into the daily routine, improving efficiency or providing defensive capabilities when the mist presses closer. Ten enemy types appear as the nights grow longer, each presenting different challenges that test the settlement's readiness. Multiple bosses emerge once the lighthouse reaches higher upgrade levels, shifting the focus from steady expansion to direct confrontation.

Game Modes

World of Mist centers on a single-player survival experience where each session builds toward longer-term progress. Save and load support allows players to resume at any point, preserving settlement layouts, resource stocks, and lighthouse upgrades across multiple sittings. The structure emphasizes repeated cycles of daytime building and nighttime defense rather than separate competitive or cooperative formats. Progression ties directly to lighthouse upgrades, which gradually unlock stronger equipment options and more demanding enemy encounters without altering the fundamental card-placement and resource-balance mechanics.

Settlement Development

Early sessions focus on establishing basic production through farms and workshops while keeping all structures inside the lighthouse beam. As chains stabilize, players can introduce forges and additional support buildings to handle growing demands. Resource interdependence means that expanding one chain often requires simultaneous investment in the others, creating natural bottlenecks that reward forward planning. The limited safe space encourages compact, efficient designs that still leave room for defensive positioning when enemies appear.

Is It Worth Playing?

World of Mist suits players who enjoy methodical resource management and strategic placement under time pressure. The card drag-and-drop system provides a tactile way to experiment with layouts, while the nightly survival checks create consistent tension without requiring fast reflexes. Those who appreciate gradual lighthouse upgrades and the shift from production focus to boss encounters will find a clear progression path. The combination of interdependent resources, equipment choices across life and combat roles, and a fixed set of enemy types offers repeatable depth for casual sessions. Save and load functionality supports flexible playtimes, making the game accessible for short or extended periods depending on individual schedules. Overall, the title delivers a focused survival city-builder experience centered on careful daily decisions and preparation for escalating nighttime threats.
