The mainland's factories are hungry for coal, iron ore and other minerals, the old mines are exhausted and can no longer keep up. A union of industrialists has chartered a ship and financed an expedition to a frozen coast.Ā The goal is to find new deposits, set up mining and ship the minerals back to the mainland. You start with nothing but a port, a single boiler house and the last coal in the warehouse...
The Board Is Watching
Send geologists into the unknown, zone by zone, and find the deposits the mainland is waiting for. The Board expects steady progress and will remind you when exploration stalls. Each contract comes with its own terms, and the Board keeps count.
Keep the Fires Burning
Every town that grows on this coast gets its own boiler house, and every boiler needs coal before time runs out. If the fire goes out, the cold takes the town and factories with warehouses freeze and are lost for good.
Your Expedition, Your Terms
Set the expedition up the way you like:
Boiler houses coal supply terms: how long a new boiler house can wait for coal
Natural resource reserves: from scarce to unlimited
Deadline terms: how much time the Board gives you
Task reward level: how generously the sponsors pay
For Railroad Corporation Veterans
Although Winter Expedition can be played in a relaxed mode, it hasnāt forgotten the spirit of the first Railroad Corporationās Challenges, such as Yellow Fever or All or Nothing. Set all four starting settings to their toughest, and it plays much like a classic Railroad Corporation Challenge.
Expect a tight schedule, a lean budget and every ton of ore counted. One missed deadline can cost you a town, or the whole expedition. Win on those terms, and all four achievements are yours in a single run.
