About Trainz 2022 DLC - VR K class Type 4 (K186-K192) - In Service Black

Trainz 2022 DLC - VR K class Type 4 (K186-K192) - In Service Black - about the game

The Victorian Railways K class was one of the most successful classes of locomotive built for the Victorian Railways, built in several batches in 1922/23 (for the first series), and 1940-1946 for later versions, resulting in a class of 53 with a few variations. These versatile 2-8-0 Consolidation locomotives were designed for use on the light branchlines in Victoria, but saw use in all sorts of service, from branchline freight, mixed and passenger trains, through to mainline roadside goods service, yard shunters, and some mainline passenger use. This class saw use until the end of steam on the Victorian Railways and beyond, with K162 operating as the North Ballarat workshops pilot (shunter) until 1979. Now there are 4 currently preserved operational (3 on the mainline), these being K153, K183 and K190 with Steamrail Victoria, K163 at Mornington Railway, plus K160 under overhaul/restoration for the Victorian Goldfields Railway and many others statically preserved, stored, or under restoration around the state.

This pack features the 4th series K class (single cab window, and boxpok wheels) locomotives as seen in regular service between 1946 and 1972, in 3 versions covering changes to the class during this time (1946-1953 as built; 1953-1959, and 1959-1972), such as lattice and plate cow catchers, tail rods (piston rod extensions), and water treatment and cab operated blowdown. These models are designed for broad gauge (5ft3in gauge) track.

These locos include the following features:

*Detailed variations showcasing their changes over time:

1946-1953 (as built with lattice cow catcher, tail rods, silvertown lubricator and no water treatment boxes on tender or cab operated blowdown)

1953-1959 (lattice cow catcher, no tail rods, nathan lubricator, water treatment boxes and cab operated blowdown)

1959-1972 (plate cow catcher, no tail rods, nathan lubricator, and water treatment boxes and cab operated blowdown)

1963-1965 (same as 1959-1972; but with red bufferbeam and smokebox door wheel - uses the 1959-1972 tender)

*Texture swapping with "Cleaned", "Weathered 1", and "Weathered 2" options, with automatic swapping on the tender to match the loco (randomises the livery when placed). 1946-1953 version also has an additional 'Pristine' livery option!

*Scripted exhaust steam/smoke effects that change depending on regulator, cutoff, coal level, season and weather.

*Scripted steam effects to change depending on season and weather.

*Scripted Cylinder drain steam and sound effects, operated using ALT+D or the cylinder drains lever in the cap.

*Other scripted steam and sound effects, including air compressor, brakes, and more.

*Working generator for lights, including steam and sound effects, controllable from properties, cab view, and keyboard controls.

*Number boards, marker lights and cab lights (in interior view) turn on when the generator is on.

*Variable glow on headlight depending on high/low beam and day or night time.

*Custom scripted 'quill' and 'pop' whistle options, via secondary and tertiary whistle controls.

*Highly detailed PBR materials.

*Heightmapped number plates, and other details.

*Highly detailed custom interior view, with operational controls, including functional gauge glass valves, working cylinder drain cocks lever, and more.

*Scripted, animated, reverser and valve gear in exterior and interior views.

*Animated dual automatic and screwlink couplers, and brake hoses/taps using ACS.

*Scripted Marker Lamps and Tail discs, with glow lamps (thanks to Bloodnok) - compatible with the VR Set Train Lamps driver command.

*Animated cab door, cab windows, smokebox door, staff exchanger, and tender tank filler lid.

*Cab doors, windows, and staff exchanger can be controlled from inside the cab as well as via the properties window.

*Deforming coal load animation in tender, giving realistic shape as coal is used.

*Light engine consists for each version of the locomotive.
