John Plagis was the hero of Battle of Malta and by the end of WWII, commander of RAF No. 126 Squadron. He is the highest-scoring ace of Greek origin with a total of 19 victories in the Mediterranean and European theaters. In this Spitfire Mk. IXc he shot down several German fighters in the second half of 1944 over France and Germany. Mk.IX is a classic Spitfire – excellent maneuverability and climb rate complemented with a couple of Hispano Mk. II 20mm cannons and four 7.7mm machineguns.
