About Acre of Aces

Acre of Aces - about the game

Acre of Aces is a single-player strategy game that blends farming mechanics with card-based roguelite systems on PC. Players manage a 6x6 field of crops, harvest groups into cards, form patterns and chains for multipliers, and use relics to alter rules across runs that last nine rounds.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on a grid field where adjacent matching crops form harvestable groups. Clicking a group converts it into a Harvest Card that records the tile count and value, then immediately replants the emptied spaces with new seeds that ripen over one day. This constant change keeps the available groups shifting with each action.

Three cards fill the Combo Bar and trigger settlement into patterns or chains. Patterns such as Flush, Rainbow, Sandwich, Even, Bumper Crop, or All Ripe activate when neighboring cards align, applying multipliers that scale with pattern length. Chains form only when each new group is exactly one tile larger than the previous card, stacking multipliers of x2, x3, x4 and beyond until a size mismatch breaks the sequence. Patterns resolve first, followed by chains, with all values combining into a single growing gold coin.

Relics obtained at the Market after each cleared round or at run start modify these systems in targeted ways. Examples include the Scale extending Even patterns to cards two tiles apart, the Night Lamp preserving chain progress across days, Double Happiness combining two pattern types for joint multipliers, and the Whetstone strengthening a chosen pattern with repeated use. Several relics together create distinct run-specific strategies.

Crops fall into Common, Rare, and Legendary rarities, each carrying a unique passive effect. Corn counts again inside patterns, Chili doubles chain multipliers on link, Broccoli joins groups with any adjacent crop regardless of type, Leeks regrow in their original harvested spot, and Bamboo gains value from higher quantities in play. Players select a small set from their collection to form the Seed Bag that serves as the run's starting resources.

Game Modes

Each run consists of nine rounds, and every round provides four days to meet a rising gold target. Reaching the target awards Seed Coins, with larger overshoots granting more. Falling short ends the run while preserving coins earned so far. Success through all nine rounds completes the run and unlocks further progression options.

Multiple field maps offer varied layouts and rules. The Village Plot presents a compact tidy area, the River Valley splits the grid with a stream that influences placement, and hillside Terraces create long narrow sections with their own difficulty and first-clear rewards. Additional maps are planned for future updates.

Progression and Customization

Seed Coins spent back at the Farmhouse open Plant Packs and Pattern Packs. The brightness visible through the torn seal indicates rarity of the contents. Duplicate cards convert into Shards and Chips used to upgrade individual crops and patterns in the Album. Unlocking new crops expands the Garden with additional plots, while permanent upgrades add relic slots, extra Combo Bar capacity, or a Scarecrow that prevents one failed target.

The Seed Bag functions as a customizable starting deck, letting players experiment with different crop combinations before each run. This setup encourages repeated attempts as upgrades and new cards gradually expand options.

Is It Worth Playing?

Acre of Aces suits players who enjoy deliberate puzzle-solving and incremental roguelite progression in a single-player format. The free demo provides a complete introduction to the harvest-to-card loop, pattern building, and relic choices without requiring purchase. Those drawn to casual strategy games with farming themes and light deck-building elements will find the systems rewarding through repeated runs and farm upgrades. The game remains in active development with new maps and content planned, making it a solid choice for anyone seeking a relaxed yet strategic experience on PC.
