About Brick Up

Brick Up - about the game

Brick Up is a first-person cooperative masonry simulation game developed for PC. Players take on the role of construction crew members tasked with building upward through a fragmented, floating world using actual physical bricks and cement. The experience centers on realistic stacking mechanics where every brick behaves according to its contact points, balance, and material properties.

Gameplay

The core loop involves traveling to job sites in a foreman's truck and tackling sections of a climb that spans three distinct environmental stages. Crews start on floating islands and construct paths, supports, and platforms to reach higher elevations, eventually aiming for the Summit at 127 meters. Bricks function as independent physical objects that can be grabbed, rotated, and positioned at any angle. Dry stacks rely solely on friction and contact faces, while applying cement creates bonded assemblies that cure over time and move as single units.

Supplies arrive through hand-cranked systems: one chute dispenses bricks and another releases cement bags. Players mix mortar manually and apply it with a trowel. Budget constraints limit spending across each section, forcing careful resource management. Additional site elements include a tower crane for swinging cured beams, hooks and ropes for suspending decks, and daily routines such as eating burritos, taking breaks, or using a slot machine. Physics governs stability, so uneven weight distribution can cause tipping or joint failure under impact.

Game Modes

Brick Up supports both cooperative and solo play. Up to six players can join a session through Steam friends lobbies or direct IP connections to tackle the main climb together. Single-player sessions allow the same progression with story saves stored in three separate files to track different crew attempts. Sandbox jobs provide free-build yards where players experiment without campaign restrictions, alongside prebuilt structure tests that include stairs, an arch bridge, and a suspension bridge.

These options emphasize repeatable practice in controlled environments separate from the story-driven ascent through changing weather conditions like calm skies, crosswinds, storms, and fog.

Progression and Site Life

Advancement follows a linear climb divided into sections, each with its own budget and environmental challenges. Crews earn cosmetic items such as hats, tops, and glasses, plus a new vehicle, by completing 22 achievements. Daily activities on the job site add variety, including interactions that risk drawing the foreman's attention. The physical simulation extends to cured structures that can be manipulated with the crane or anchored via cemented hooks and ropes.

Is It Worth Playing?

Brick Up appeals to players interested in detailed physics-based building simulations and cooperative teamwork on PC. Its emphasis on realistic brick placement, cement curing, and structural stability creates a focused experience distinct from abstract construction titles. The combination of campaign progression, sandbox experimentation, and optional multiplayer makes it suitable for both solo builders seeking methodical challenges and groups that enjoy shared problem-solving under resource limits. As an upcoming indie title in the casual and simulation genres, it offers a specialized niche for those drawn to hands-on masonry mechanics rather than broad action or narrative elements. Those who value precise control over materials and collaborative site management will find the verified systems rewarding once the game becomes available.
