About Deadgate

Deadgate - about the game

Deadgate is a first-person extraction shooter set on a quarantined island filled with the dead. Players enter with chosen gear and a contract, complete objectives, gather loot, and extract before the island seals at midnight. Failure means losing everything brought in. The game supports solo play or squads of up to four on PC in early access, blending action, adventure, and massively multiplayer elements in a persistent risk-reward loop.

Gameplay

Each raid begins with a contract that requires completing specific tasks such as downloading data from terminals, carrying a fuse to a power panel, collecting a sample, scouting observation points, delivering supplies, or activating radio relays. The quarantine gate remains locked until the contract finishes. Chained contracts reveal the next area only after the current step ends, while rush contracts offer extra credits for early completion before 16:00. Extraction succeeds when the gate opens, allowing players to keep loot, experience, and credits.

The dead respond to sound and sight. Footsteps and gunfire draw zombies that spawn in different positions each match. Precise shots can sever limbs or drop targets, yet every shot risks alerting nearby threats and other players. Six body regions track injuries and bleeding that drains a separate blood reserve. Hunger and thirst add further pressure. Treating wounds takes seconds, lowers the weapon, and halts if interrupted.

Loadouts respect a strict 30 kg limit. Pistols, revolvers, shotguns, SMGs, assault rifles, battle rifles, crossbows, scoped hunting rifles, knives, bats, and fire axes form the weapon pool. Armor tiers, helmets, backpacks, and chest rigs affect mobility and stamina. Players scavenge homes, shops, hospitals, military sites, and vehicles for food, water, medicine, ammunition, and rare items that cannot be purchased.

The island spans roughly 1.5 km across with nearly 2 km² of land and 6 km of coastline. Twenty-five named areas include a valley city, high-rise district with climbable towers, villages, farms, an industrial zone, quarry, military camp, state hospital, cemetery, stadium, shantytown, landfill, solar plant, and wind farm. A central river feeds a lake and the sea. Navigation relies on a map that marks contract zones and exits but never the player's position, forcing use of landmarks and a compass.

Raids run from 10:00 to midnight on the in-game clock, lasting about 42 minutes. Daylight fades into night, shifting visibility and tension. Extraction at 16:40 via metro stations preserves loot but grants no experience. Staying past midnight results in total loss.

Game Modes

The core experience revolves around contract-driven raids that combine PvE zombie encounters with PvP competition from other squads pursuing their own objectives. Routes often intersect, turning firefights into noisy events that summon more dead. Solo runs emphasize stealth and careful resource use, while squads of up to four coordinate contracts and share carrying capacity.

Ranked seasons award points for successful extractions and deduct them for deaths, creating seven tiers of progression. Stash, credits, and career stats persist across raids, letting players buy gear, sell excess items, and decide what to risk each time. No separate modes exist beyond variations in contract types and timing pressures.

The Island and Time Cycle

The compact map encourages repeated exploration of distinct zones while the day-night transition alters tactics. Early raids favor open movement and ranged engagements. Later hours demand tighter positioning, reduced noise, and reliance on night vision or careful light discipline. Landmarks such as the two climbable towers and the river provide consistent orientation points across matches.

Is It Worth Playing?

Deadgate suits players who enjoy high-stakes extraction loops where preparation, sound discipline, and quick decision-making determine success. The combination of contract variety, zombie awareness mechanics, injury management, and weight-limited inventory creates consistent tension without relying on large-scale battles. Those who prefer methodical scavenging and squad coordination over constant action will find the 42-minute raid structure rewarding. Early access status means the experience centers on the verified systems of contracts, extraction timing, and ranked progression, making it a fit for fans of risk-reward multiplayer shooters who accept ongoing development.
