About Death to Demons

Death to Demons - about the game

Death to Demons is a dark fantasy roguelite auto-battler for PC in which players command exiled necromancers and their undead forces against waves of invading demons. The kingdom of Vaelthorron once banished its necromancers, but the opening of demon gates left the living armies defeated and the dead as the final line of defense. Players raise and evolve minions, select upgrades, and push through escalating threats to close the gates of Hell.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on auto-battler combat where the player directs an army of undead units rather than controlling individual characters directly. Minions include skeletons, revenants, plague summons, ranged attackers, and evolved forms that players merge for greater strength. Upgrades arrive through chests and region-specific choices that alter army composition and abilities between waves.

Four distinct classes shape each run. The Necromancer focuses on broad summoning and control. The Death Knight emphasizes frontline durability and direct confrontation. The Bone Weaver specializes in structural and defensive constructs. The Plague Caller deploys area-denial effects and persistent damage over time. Each class carries unique abilities, summon pools, and progression trees that encourage different army compositions.

Progression moves across a campaign map of demon-infested regions. Early areas feature haunted graveyards and cursed marshes, while later zones include ruined fortresses, catacombs, and the Throne of Night. Wave-based encounters increase in difficulty, culminating in boss fights against powerful demon lords. Between waves, players collect rewards, merge units, and adapt strategies to the next region.

Game Modes

Campaign map progression forms the main experience. Players advance through the fallen kingdom, facing region-specific demon threats and managing resources to reach the final confrontation at the Throne of Night.

Proving Ground mode provides a separate arena for testing builds. This mode allows extended survival battles without the constraints of campaign progression, letting players experiment with class combinations, minion merges, and upgrade paths in longer engagements.

All gameplay remains single-player and supports offline sessions, removing any requirement for constant internet connectivity.

Classes and Army Building

Army construction relies on collecting and merging units while choosing from upgrade options that appear after each wave or chest reward. Skeletons serve as basic frontline troops, revenants add resilience, plague summons introduce damage-over-time effects, and ranged minions provide support from behind. Evolved forms emerge through merges that combine multiple units into stronger variants.

Strategy shifts with each class choice. A Necromancer run might prioritize quantity and rapid summons, while a Plague Caller build leans toward sustained area control. Adaptation occurs naturally as players respond to the escalating threats in each new region.

Is It Worth Playing?

Death to Demons suits players who enjoy roguelite progression combined with auto-battler army management in a dark fantasy setting. The closed alpha state means features, balance, visuals, and content remain subject to change during ongoing development. Those interested in testing undead army composition and class-specific strategies can access the current build through available playtest channels. The single-player offline focus makes it accessible for sessions without multiplayer requirements or live-service elements.
