About Legion's Hand

Legion's Hand - about the game

Legion's Hand is an indie single-player roguelike for PC that blends Mahjong-style hand-building with auto-battler combat and deck-building progression. Players draw cards to form a 14-card hand, then deploy that hand as a complete military force on the battlefield. The core loop centers on alignment and combination rather than traditional card play, where the shape of each hand determines army strength and special abilities.

Gameplay

The central mechanic requires no prior Mahjong knowledge. One rule governs everything: better alignment of cards produces stronger soldiers. Cards carry five colors and numbered values that create 34 distinct allied units. Each number ties to specific abilities, so selections of colors and numbers shape the overall strategy from the start of a run.

Out of any 14-card hand, every card contributes to the army. Identical cards stacked three high merge into a Giant. Four identical cards summon a Hero, with further stacking unlocking higher tiers. Consecutive numbers form coordinated Regiments. Pairs act as Squad Leaders that anchor the force. Leftover cards that fit no combo still appear as Frontline Pawns to shield the line. The resulting formation grants buffs across the entire army based on the tactical layout chosen.

Combat unfolds automatically once the hand deploys. The player watches the army engage the Demon Lord's diverse monster horde. Defeat sends damage to the Commander. Reaching zero hit points ends the run. Success depends on consistent hand quality across multiple encounters.

Game Modes

Legion's Hand operates as a single continuous roguelike campaign built around procedurally generated maps. Each run follows a branching path that includes standard Battles, tougher Elite encounters, Events, Shops for upgrades, Rest sites for recovery, and Messenger interactions. The goal remains consistent: advance through the map to confront the final Boss deep in the Demon Lord's territory.

Progression carries forward only through repeated attempts. Each new run begins with a fresh deck and map layout, encouraging experimentation with different color and number combinations. No separate multiplayer or versus modes exist. The entire experience stays focused on solo runs that test hand-building skill and path choices.

Strategic Depth

With cards spanning five colors and multiple numbers, the system supports many viable builds. A player might prioritize stacking for high-tier Heroes or focus on consecutive sequences for Regiments that deliver coordinated strikes. Pair-based Squad Leaders provide reliable anchors while Pawns fill gaps. The 34 unique units ensure that color and number decisions directly influence which abilities appear on the battlefield.

Map navigation adds another layer. Choosing an Elite fight over a Shop or Rest site alters the resources available for the next hand. Events and Messengers introduce variables that can reward or punish specific strategies. The procedural structure keeps each attempt distinct while the core hand rules remain fixed.

Is It Worth Playing?

Legion's Hand suits players who enjoy roguelike runs combined with puzzle-like hand construction and automatic battles. The system rewards careful observation of card alignments over quick reflexes. Those drawn to deck-building games that emphasize formation and synergy will find the mechanics engaging across multiple attempts.

The game runs on PC and presents a complete single-player experience without additional modes or expansions required. Its indie scope keeps the focus narrow on the hand-to-army loop and procedural map traversal. Players seeking a fresh twist on auto-battler and roguelike fusion may find repeated runs rewarding as they refine their approach to card combinations and path selection.
