About MESHFALL

MESHFALL - about the game

MESHFALL is a real-time strategy game built around the limits of command range. Players control a Command Post that broadcasts orders through a network of relays. Units inside the signal coverage follow new instructions. Units outside it complete their last orders, defend themselves at reduced effectiveness, and ignore fresh commands until the network reconnects.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on expanding and protecting a radio network before committing forces. Every advance begins with placing relays to push the signal forward. Buildings and new units can only be constructed inside active coverage. The enemy deliberately targets relays to sever chains, so a single lost link can silence an entire forward section at once. Players set standing orders in advance for squads that lose contact: hold position, fall back to the nearest working relay, or press ahead regardless of resistance.

Resources add another layer of pressure. Ore deposits deplete after repeated extraction, pushing players to secure fresh sites further from the starting point. The richest deposits often lie behind enemy positions that block expansion. A mobile General unit carries orders to nearby forces while remaining inside the network itself. An autonomous drone swarm handles mining, relay construction, and salvage collection without direct commands, with visible lines showing each drone's intended path.

Defensive structures such as turrets, mortars, snares, and dampeners upgrade from level one to five. Boss encounters occur every tenth wave and each employs a distinct method of disrupting the network rather than relying solely on increased durability. Four campaigns unfold across distinct maps, including the Flooded City, the Islands, the City, and the Tides, where periodic flooding temporarily disables units in the affected zone.

Game Modes

MESHFALL operates as a single-player experience with four separate campaigns. Each campaign consists of one hundred waves. Progress past wave fifty on one campaign unlocks the next. The final campaign ends when the enemy headquarters falls. Runs follow roguelite rules: experience earned carries forward even if a run ends early. Players spend this experience across one hundred levels to unlock twenty-nine permanent options, beginning with two slots and expanding to five. These choices determine which upgrades and units enter each new attempt.

Four difficulty settings adjust the challenge. Colorblind options and UI scaling improve accessibility. Controller support is present, and nearly every input can be rebound. The game runs entirely offline with no account requirement.

Progression and Features

Each completed wave and boss defeat grants spoils that alter future runs. Turrets and other defenses gain levels that persist across attempts when unlocked. The soundtrack, composed by Vitalezzz and released into the public domain, adapts to the intensity of the engagement. Twenty-three achievements track specific accomplishments such as surviving particular waves or defeating every boss type.

The game supports color options for colorblind players and includes a UI scale setting. These options sit alongside the core systems without altering the central tension of maintaining signal coverage while pushing into hostile territory.

Is It Worth Playing?

MESHFALL suits players who enjoy deliberate real-time strategy where positioning and infrastructure matter more than raw unit counts. The command-range mechanic forces constant attention to network integrity and creates meaningful decisions about when to advance and how to recover from losses. Roguelite progression rewards repeated attempts without requiring a full clear on every run.

Those who prefer fast-paced action or traditional base-building without communication limits may find the pacing slower. The game offers no multiplayer components and focuses entirely on solo campaigns against AI waves. Its offline nature and modest system demands make it accessible for players seeking a focused indie strategy title on PC.
