About Moth Terra

Moth Terra - about the game

A tile-placing game about biodiversity, moths and our nighttime ecosystem: explore different Biomes like moonlit meadows, sandy dunes and urban garden nightlife. Plant grasses, flowers, and ponds to create a biodiverse environment that will attract new species of moth friends to thrive. Combat urbanisation, artificial light and predators.

About this Game

Moth Terra is a building strategy game where you place and match tiles to craft nocturnal ecosystems for Moths to thrive. Moth Terra lets you build your nighttime gardens and discover new species of incredible and beautiful Moths, of which there are many hundreds of thousands in this world. You will also plant and re-wild real species of flowers, switching between Moths to plant different flowers and place different tiles.

Strategy

A random tile is drawn and placed, matching tiles with soils, water, plants and the right combinations will score more points and attract new Moths.

After matching and placing tiles, planting flowers will create more tile stacks. Planting your flowers biodiversely, where they can pollinate, will score more points and increase your seed numbers and generate new seed packets.

Biomes

Features

In Moth Terra you can unlock:

  • Tiles

  • Real nighttime flowers, and wild flowers like Cornflowers, Moon flowers, Night-Scented

  • Real Moths in different biomes, like Jersey Tiger, Cinnabar, White-Spotted and Hummingbird, all found in the Urban Garden Biomes

  • New Biomes like Urban gardens, Forests, and Sandy dunes

You can play as different Moths, and unlock different flowers with each one:

  • Urban Garden Moths will plant garden flowers

  • New and rare species will be unlocked with the right tile placements and flower combinations

Flowers have life spans, and events may trigger harm and death. The Moths can experience harm from light if you do not shelter and grow your gardens. You can always recover your garden through careful planting and growing. Building your garden outside of sandbox mode (where you can build and chill) will face challenges from:

  • Light Pollution

  • Urbanisation

  • Environmental Changes
