About RuleKill

RuleKill - about the game

RuleKill is a PC-based online social deduction card game that blends strategy and role-playing elements in a multiplayer setting. Players join sessions supporting 4 to 12 participants, where two factions compete through hidden information and logical deduction. The eerie faction creates rules with built-in deception, while the orderly faction must identify and eliminate threats without violating true constraints.

Gameplay

Each round begins with the eerie players selecting rules from a library, incorporating two true rules and one false rule among the set. Orderly players must follow every true rule or accumulate violation points, reaching four points results in elimination at dawn. Eerie players can break rules freely, gaining advantages while leaving investigative clues. This setup creates persistent information asymmetry, as orderly participants never know which rule is fabricated.

Over 14 functional cards enable actions such as investigation, protection, interference, and direct identification attempts. Successful identification removes an eerie player, while failure increases the user's own violation value. Night phases focus on card usage and character skills, shifting to daytime discussion and voting for execution or verification. Twenty-eight distinct characters each provide unique abilities that alter strategies across sessions.

A featured WeiZhi mechanic involves writing news at night. Orderly players receive the full text the following day, while eerie players see only a blurred version. Eerie participants can later decipher the content by correctly answering objective questions, restoring full details and intensifying the intellectual contest.

Game Modes

RuleKill supports dynamic player counts from 4 to 12, with optimal engagement at full capacity. Sessions run through monitor servers for LAN or team-based online play. Disconnected participants can rejoin and restore their prior status without disrupting the match flow. The core loop alternates strictly between night card and skill phases and daytime voting rounds, ensuring consistent structure regardless of group size.

Customization occurs through an emerging board system that lets hosts adjust rule pools, character pools, card pools, and the number of false rules. This flexibility generates varied environments without altering the fundamental faction objectives.

Factions and Victory Conditions

Orderly players win by eliminating every eerie participant through card-based identification and voting. Eerie players achieve victory when their surviving numbers equal or exceed the remaining orderly count. Eerie strategy centers on concealing identities, exploiting rule violations for chaos, and influencing votes or identifications against orderly targets. Orderly play emphasizes rule adherence, teammate protection, and systematic investigation to expose anomalies.

Is It Worth Playing?

RuleKill remains in active playtest with core systems implemented and ongoing balance adjustments. No user reviews or ratings exist yet on its Steam page. The experience suits players who enjoy social deduction titles that emphasize rule interpretation, card tactics, and group discussion over fast action. Those seeking asymmetric information games with customizable setups and character variety will find the mechanics engaging once the title reaches full release. Participation in the current playtest offers direct input on refinements before broader availability.
