Marvel Rivals isn't slowing down, and Season 9 is right around the corner. NetEase has locked in July 10 for the next big drop, and if you have been grinding through the back half of Season 8, this is the reset a lot of us have been waiting for. New theme, new villain, at least one new hero, the works.
Here is the schedule as it stands. The Season 9 trailer and dev vision are expected on July 7, so by the time you read this we might already know exactly what NetEase is cooking. An early access stream is lined up for July 8, where creators get to show off the new hero before the rest of us. Then the season proper goes live on July 10. Quick turnaround, classic Rivals.
This is the part we are most hyped about. Season 9 leans into Age of Apocalypse, one of the most beloved alternate-timeline arcs in Marvel comics, with Apocalypse himself as the headline villain. If you know the comics, you know how grim and gloriously over the top that world gets. It fits a hero shooter better than it has any right to.
Now for the fun bit, and the part where we put our rumor hat on. Leaks and datamines point to Jubilee joining the roster, likely as a Strategist, which would be a great fit for her firework-slinging support kit. The Hood has also been floating around the leak circuit, though the smart money says he lands later in Season 9.5 rather than day one. Nothing is official until NetEase says so, so treat the hero list as strong speculation for now.
The best part? Marvel Rivals is still free to play, so jumping into Season 9 costs you nothing but time (and maybe your sanity in ranked). If you have been on the fence, a fresh season with a comic-book-famous theme is about the best on-ramp you will get.
So, who are you maining when Season 9 hits? Team up or throw hands in the comments, and we will see you on the objective.
