PS Plus August 2026 Catalog - Helldivers 2 Joins Extra

Helldivers 2 is in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, and Sony didn't make anybody wait for it. The August lineup went up on August 12 and Arrowhead's co-op shooter was playable for Extra members the same afternoon, worldwide. No countdown, no "coming later this month".

The rest of the month holds up too. Ten games across the Game Catalog and the Classics Catalog, and a couple of them were sitting on half the internet's wishlist last year.

Everything joining the PS Plus Game Catalog in August

Helldivers 2 (PS5) is the only one live right now. The rest turn up on August 18:

There's one odd wrinkle. Sony's own post says Hell is Us, Umamusume, Two Point Museum, Metro Exodus and Dying Light 2 land on August 25 in the US, the UK and Japan. Read it the way it's written and most of Europe gets them a full week before the Americans do. Rare, so enjoy it.

Dying Light 2 is pulling double shifts this month, by the way. The Reloaded Edition has been sitting in August's Essential monthly games since the 4th, so plenty of you already have it locked to your account.

Helldivers 2 didn't arrive quietly

Update 7.0.0, Devoid of Liberty, went out the same day. The Illuminate get a real push this time: missions built around wrecking spires and gateways, data recon runs, infiltration jobs, plus two new mutations that are going to ruin somebody's evening. The Wretch dodges, leaps and dismantles your weapons. The Crusher regenerates while it soaks damage, so there's no pacing yourself through that fight.

Good news if you're starting cold. SEAF platoons now show up as a planet modifier. They come down on dropships with stim pistols and heavy machine guns, they patch you up, and they genuinely fight alongside your squad. Arrowhead also stretched the rank ladder past 150 and all the way to 300, and yes, there's a Warhammer 40,000 crossover in there as well. Veterans, you have homework.

A community challenge is running on top of that: 500 million kills by August 18 unlocks four Helldiver avatars for everyone. Knowing this playerbase, it'll be done before the weekend is over.

Premium picks up two very different classics

Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams and Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire join the Classics Catalog on August 18, both on PS5 and PS4. One is a PS2 demon slasher that never quite got its due, the other is a PS1 movie tie-in running with up-rendering, rewind, quick saves and video filters. We know which one we'll still be poking at 2am.

You need Extra for the Game Catalog and Premium for the classics. Still working out which tier makes sense? Our subscriptions page lays it out.
