About Let It Melt

Let It Melt - about the game

Let It Melt is a strategy, indie, casual, and simulation game for PC in which players manage a snowy field to produce and collect water as currency in a post-2054 setting where fresh water has become the global standard of value.

Gameplay

Players control a mouse that functions as a torch to melt snowballs formed by village kids. Left-clicking overheats and melts the snow into water drops, while right-clicking scoops the water into a bucket. Collectors transport these drops to a central reservoir that serves as the primary resource pool. The core loop revolves around balancing snow production against melting capacity and water collection speed, as the reservoir evaporates continuously and excess water on the ground can soak back into the snow.

Helpers expand operations over time. Snowball makers produce larger volumes, snowman builders and firecracker kids add variety to snow handling, while rocket kids, water-pistol babies, water-balloon throwers, water carriers, a vacuum kid, dogs, and a sled kid contribute specialized tasks. Pine trees can be ignited for additional heat. Each helper type supports upgrades that increase numbers, snowball size, flame intensity, or bucket capacity. Weather events such as rain, sun, wind, night, and heavy snow alter field conditions, and Santa occasionally appears with gifts. At level 40, a mud troll appears and must be defeated across three distinct phases involving snow, fire, and water mechanics.

Game Modes

The game centers on level-based progression where the objective is to fill the reservoir sufficiently to dispatch tanker trucks. These tankers function as prestige currency earned when parents arrive to collect the kids. Spending tankers unlocks talents in a star-shaped tree containing 47 options that permanently raise limits and capabilities. Player level persists across sessions and continues to expand these limits even after the main progression concludes.

Core play supports both active torch management and passive observation of the automated crew. A complete story arc leads to a defined ending, after which players can continue indefinitely with their upgraded setup. The experience remains single-player throughout, with no additional modes beyond this level and prestige structure.

Progression and Upgrades

Early stages focus on manual melting and basic collection to establish steady water flow. As helpers are recruited and upgraded, automation increases, allowing the system to sustain itself while the player intervenes during weather shifts or bottlenecks. Prestige through tankers encourages repeated playthroughs with stronger starting conditions each time. The talent tree provides targeted improvements that scale with overall level, ensuring long-term growth without resetting prior progress.

Features and Accessibility

Let It Melt includes 34 Steam achievements and supports Steam Cloud saves. It is available in 27 languages and requires only a single purchase with no advertisements or microtransactions. The title was developed by a solo creator, resulting in a focused experience centered on resource management and incremental expansion. Controls are mouse-only, with options for custom volume and the ability to save at any time.

Is It Worth Playing?

Let It Melt suits players who enjoy idle and incremental strategy titles with resource management elements. The combination of active torch use and passive crew automation allows flexible engagement, while the prestige system and talent tree reward continued investment. A real ending exists alongside post-game continuation, and the absence of ongoing monetization keeps the focus on core mechanics. Those interested in cozy simulation gameplay with strategic balancing will find the verified systems and progression loop align closely with the described experience.
